Description
An Electromagnetic Flow Meter, also known as a Magnetic Flow Meter or Mag Meter, is one of the most reliable flow measurement technologies for electrically conductive liquids. It operates on Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction, where a magnetic field generated across the measuring tube induces a voltage as the liquid flows through it. The induced voltage is directly proportional to the flow velocity, enabling highly accurate volumetric flow measurement without introducing any obstruction into the process line.
Unlike mechanical flow meters that rely on moving parts, electromagnetic flow meters contain no rotating or wear-prone components within the flow path. This design minimizes maintenance requirements, eliminates pressure loss caused by internal restrictions, and ensures long-term measurement stability even in demanding industrial environments.
The Aavad Instrument Model AMAG-I Electromagnetic Flow Meter is engineered for accurate measurement of water, wastewater, chemicals, slurries, acids, alkalis, food-grade liquids, and other electrically conductive media. Featuring ±0.5% of reading accuracy, a PTFE liner, SS316L electrodes, and a durable IP65-rated transmitter, it delivers dependable performance across a broad range of industrial applications.
Available in sizes from 15 mm to 250 mm, the AMAG-I supports installation in pipelines ranging from small process lines to large distribution networks. The meter is equipped with a digital display and multiple communication options, including 4–20 mA, pulse output, and RS485 (Modbus RTU), enabling straightforward integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS platforms, and other industrial automation systems.
Because electromagnetic flow meters are unaffected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, temperature, or pressure, they provide consistent measurement performance across varying process conditions, provided the liquid is electrically conductive. Their ability to measure bidirectional flow and support totalized flow monitoring makes them a preferred choice for modern water management and process control systems.
