Description
Bearing Temperature Detector (BTD) PT100 RTD Sensor (Model APED-12×80) is designed for continuous temperature monitoring of bearings in motors, pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment. By detecting abnormal temperature increases at an early stage, the sensor helps support predictive maintenance and reduce the risk of unplanned equipment failures.
This model features a duplex PT100 (3+3 wire) sensing element with Class A accuracy, allowing redundant temperature measurement or simultaneous connection to two monitoring systems. Its 12 mm SS316 probe provides enhanced mechanical strength for heavy-duty industrial installations, while the 1/4″ male process connection ensures secure mounting in bearing housings and equipment casings.
Designed for temperatures from -50°C to +400°C, the sensor is supplied with a 3-meter TF/TF insulated cable and is compatible with PLCs, DCS systems, RTD transmitters, protection relays, and condition monitoring systems. Aavad also manufactures customized BTD sensors with different probe diameters, lengths, process connections, cable options, and wiring configurations.

FAQs
1. What is a Bearing Temperature Detector (BTD)?
A Bearing Temperature Detector (BTD) is a PT100 Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) specifically designed to continuously monitor the temperature of bearings in motors, pumps, turbines, compressors, generators, gearboxes, fans, and other rotating equipment. It helps ensure reliable operation by providing accurate bearing temperature measurement for equipment protection and condition monitoring.
2. Why is Bearing Temperature Monitoring important?
Monitoring bearing temperature helps detect abnormal heating caused by excessive friction, inadequate lubrication, overload, or bearing wear before equipment failure occurs. Early temperature detection supports predictive maintenance, reduces unplanned downtime, lowers maintenance costs, and improves the reliability and service life of critical rotating machinery.
3. What is the advantage of a Duplex PT100 BTD Sensor?
A Duplex PT100 BTD Sensor contains two independent PT100 sensing elements, allowing redundant temperature measurement or simultaneous connection to two separate monitoring systems. One output can be connected to a PLC, DCS, SCADA, or protection relay, while the second can be used for data logging, condition monitoring, or backup protection.
4. Why choose Aavad Bearing Temperature Detector PT100 RTD Sensors?
