Description
The Weld Pad PT100 RTD Sensor is designed for permanent surface temperature measurement on high-temperature piping, process equipment, and tube skin applications where long-term stability and reliable thermal contact are essential. The sensor features a 50 × 50 mm stainless steel weld pad that is permanently attached to the equipment surface, creating excellent thermal conductivity and eliminating the possibility of sensor movement caused by vibration, thermal cycling, or mechanical stress. This fixed installation provides more consistent measurements than removable clamp-on or adhesive-mounted sensors.
Equipped with a Class A PT100 sensing element in a 2-wire configuration, the sensor delivers accurate and repeatable temperature measurements up to 400°C. The 6 mm diameter sensing tip, durable stainless steel construction, and TF/TF/SS insulated cable ensure reliable operation in demanding industrial environments. The permanently welded design makes it particularly suitable for continuous monitoring of critical assets where stable surface contact is required over extended service periods.
The Weld Pad PT100 RTD Sensor is widely used for tube skin temperature monitoring, refinery process heaters, petrochemical plants, boilers, superheaters, reheaters, furnaces, heat exchangers, power generation equipment, and high-temperature process piping. It integrates easily with PLCs, DCS systems, SCADA platforms, RTD transmitters, and plant monitoring systems. Aavad Instrument Pvt. Ltd. also offers customization of pad dimensions, probe configuration, RTD element (PT100 or PT1000), cable length, sheath material, and termination options to suit specific industrial requirements.

FAQs
1. What is a Weld Pad PT100 RTD Sensor?
A Weld Pad PT100 RTD Sensor is a permanently mounted Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) that is welded directly to equipment, piping, vessels, or other metal surfaces to provide accurate, stable, and continuous surface temperature measurement in industrial applications.
2. Why is a Weld Pad used instead of a Clamp?
A weld pad provides permanent mechanical attachment and excellent thermal contact with the measured surface, minimizing the risk of sensor movement or loss of contact caused by vibration, mechanical stress, or thermal expansion. This ensures reliable long-term temperature monitoring.
3. Can this RTD Sensor be connected to Industrial Automation Systems?
Yes. The Weld Pad PT100 RTD Sensor is compatible with RTD transmitters, PLCs, DCS systems, SCADA platforms, temperature controllers, and industrial monitoring systems, making it suitable for process automation and continuous temperature monitoring.
4. What is the difference between a Weld Pad RTD and a Weld Pad Thermocouple?
A Weld Pad RTD provides higher measurement accuracy, better repeatability, and excellent long-term stability, while a Weld Pad Thermocouple generally supports higher operating temperatures and faster response in extreme heat applications. The choice depends on the application’s temperature range and accuracy requirements.
5. Do you also manufacture Weld Pad Thermocouples?
Yes. Aavad manufactures a comprehensive range of industrial surface temperature sensors, including Weld Pad K-Type Thermocouples, Clamp-On RTD Sensors, Leaf Type Surface Thermocouples, and other permanent and removable surface temperature sensing solutions for industrial process applications.
