Description
Mineral Insulated PT100 RTD Sensor with Transition Joint (Model APES-6×150) is designed for reliable and accurate temperature measurement in demanding industrial environments. The sensor features a mineral-insulated (MI) construction, where the sensing element is surrounded by compacted magnesium oxide (MgO), providing excellent thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, and mechanical durability.
A transition joint between the SS316 probe and the flexible cable acts as a strain-relief, helping reduce mechanical stress at the cable entry and improving long-term reliability in applications involving vibration or repeated handling.
This model incorporates a Simplex PT100, 3-wire sensing element with Class A accuracy and operates from -50°C to +400°C. The 150 mm SS316 sheath and TF/TF/SS insulated cable make it suitable for chemical processing, petrochemical plants, refineries, boilers, reactors, pipelines, and general industrial process monitoring.
Aavad also manufactures customized mineral insulated RTD sensors with different probe lengths, cable lengths, sensing configurations, and process connections for OEM and replacement applications.

FAQs
1. What is a Mineral Insulated PT100 RTD Sensor?
A Mineral Insulated PT100 RTD Sensor is a PT100 Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) that uses compacted magnesium oxide (MgO) insulation around the sensing element within a stainless steel sheath. This construction provides accurate, stable, and reliable temperature measurement while offering excellent durability for demanding industrial applications.
2. What are the advantages of Mineral Insulation?
Mineral insulation (MgO) offers excellent thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, mechanical strength, vibration resistance, and high-temperature stability. These properties help improve measurement accuracy, protect the sensing element, and make the RTD sensor suitable for harsh industrial environments with continuous operation.
3. What is the purpose of the Transition Joint?
The transition joint provides effective strain relief between the rigid mineral-insulated probe and the flexible extension cable. It helps reduce cable-flex stress, vibration, and mechanical strain at the cable entry point, improving sensor durability and extending the service life of the RTD sensor.
