Description
The Aavad Industrial Temperature Probe is a spring-loaded RTD sensor designed for reliable temperature measurement in industrial process equipment where the sensing element is installed inside a thermowell or drilled protection well. Unlike fixed-tip probes, the spring-loaded construction maintains continuous contact between the sensor tip and the bottom of the thermowell, helping improve heat transfer and measurement stability.
Model APES-6×300 features a 6 mm SS316 stainless steel sheath, PT100 or PT1000 sensing element, 3-wire configuration, and Class A or Class B accuracy with an operating temperature range of -50°C to 400°C. The sensor is supplied with a 5-meter blue PTFE (Teflon) insulated cable, which offers excellent resistance to heat, oils, moisture, and many industrial chemicals. In facilities using multiple temperature measurement points, cable color may also assist with equipment identification and maintenance practices.
When an RTD is installed inside a thermowell, even a small gap between the sensing tip and the bottom of the well can reduce heat transfer and slow the sensor’s response. The integrated spring mechanism continuously pushes the sensing element against the thermowell tip, compensating for manufacturing tolerances, vibration, and thermal expansion. This design helps maintain consistent contact throughout operation and supports stable, repeatable temperature measurement.
The probe is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing, water treatment, HVAC systems, boilers, heat exchangers, storage tanks, pipelines, and general process automation.

FAQs
1. What is an Industrial Temperature Probe?
An Industrial Temperature Probe is a precision temperature sensing assembly that uses either an RTD (PT100/PT1000) or a thermocouple to accurately measure process temperatures in industrial equipment such as pipelines, tanks, reactors, boilers, heat exchangers, ovens, furnaces, and process vessels. These probes provide reliable temperature monitoring for industrial process control and automation.
2. Why is a Spring-Loaded Temperature Probe used?
A spring-loaded temperature probe maintains constant contact between the sensing tip and the bottom of a thermowell. This improves heat transfer, reduces air gaps, enhances measurement accuracy, and delivers more consistent temperature readings, especially in applications where vibration or thermal expansion may affect sensor positioning.
3. Can this Probe be used with Thermowells?
Yes. This industrial temperature probe is specifically designed for installation inside thermowells or drilled protection wells. Using a thermowell protects the sensing element from pressure, corrosion, and process media while allowing the probe to be removed for maintenance or replacement without interrupting the process.
4. Is this Probe available with PT100 and PT1000 elements?
Yes. The probe is available with both PT100 and PT1000 sensing elements manufactured in accordance with IEC 60751. The appropriate sensor type can be selected based on measurement accuracy, cable length, controller compatibility, and application requirements.
5. What is the Operating Temperature Range?
This industrial temperature probe is suitable for operating temperatures from -50°C to +400°C, making it ideal for a wide variety of industrial heating, cooling, and process temperature measurement applications.
6. Which industries commonly use Industrial Temperature Probes?
Industrial temperature probes are widely used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food & beverage processing, water and wastewater treatment, HVAC systems, power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical plants, steel manufacturing, textile industries, and general industrial automation where accurate and reliable temperature monitoring is essential.
