Description
The K-Type Washer Thermocouple is designed for accurate surface temperature measurement on machinery, tanks, vessels, heaters, and industrial equipment where installation under an existing bolt provides a simple and reliable sensing solution. The thermocouple element is integrated directly into a 12 mm diameter washer with an 8 mm mounting hole, ensuring excellent thermal contact with the measurement surface while eliminating the need for additional drilled ports or welded fittings. This compact design enables quick installation and straightforward sensor replacement during routine maintenance.
Manufactured with a K-Type (Chromel-Alumel) thermocouple element, the sensor provides dependable temperature measurement from 0°C to +750°C, making it suitable for applications that exceed the operating range of standard RTD sensors. The durable construction and FG/FG/SS insulated cable offer excellent resistance to heat, vibration, and mechanical wear in demanding industrial environments. In addition to K-Type, the washer assembly can also be supplied with J, T, E, or N thermocouple elements to suit different process requirements.
The K-Type Washer Thermocouple is widely used in plastic processing machinery, industrial heaters, hot plates, tanks, pressure vessels, food processing equipment, chapati and khakhra-making machines, packaging equipment, and general industrial surface temperature monitoring. Aavad Instrument Pvt. Ltd. also offers customization of washer diameter, mounting hole size, cable length, thermocouple type, insulation material, and connector options to meet specific OEM and industrial applications.
Key Features
-
Direct Bolt-On Washer Architecture ($8text{mm}$ ID / $12text{mm}$ OD) Mounts directly under existing structural bolts, machine screws, or studs for instant surface temperature tracking without additional drilling.
-
Extended High-Temperature Capability (Up to 750°C) Heavy-duty Type K calibration handles extreme heat applications exceeding the temperature limits of standard surface sensors.
-
Direct Conductive Contact for Ultra-Fast Response Embedded junction within the washer ring ensures intimate thermal contact with the target surface for zero thermal lag.
-
Versatile Multi-Calibration Compatibility Standard build uses Type K, but design configurations are available across J, T, E, and N thermocouple calibrations.
-
Armored Heat-Resistant Lead Wire (1m FG/FG/SS) High-temperature fiberglass insulation wrapped in a outer stainless steel braid prevents wire damage from high ambient radiation and mechanical pulling.
-
Compact, Low-Profile Installation Fits neatly into tight machinery spaces where long probe sheaths or thermowells cannot be installed.
Applications
-
Commercial Food Machinery & Hot Plates Surface temperature regulation on automated roti, chapati, and khakhra making machines, commercial griddles, and industrial baking platens.
-

FAQs
1. What is a K-Type Washer Thermocouple?
A K-Type Washer Thermocouple is a surface temperature sensor with the K-Type thermocouple element integrated into a washer that is installed under a standard bolt or fastener for direct and reliable surface temperature measurement of industrial equipment.
2. Why is a Washer Thermocouple used?
A Washer Thermocouple enables accurate surface temperature measurement without requiring additional drilling, machining, or welded fittings. It offers a simple, cost-effective installation while maintaining reliable thermal contact with the measured surface.
3. What is the difference between a Washer Thermocouple and an RTD Washer Sensor?
A Washer Thermocouple supports higher operating temperatures and faster response times, making it suitable for high-temperature industrial applications. In comparison, an RTD Washer Sensor provides higher measurement accuracy, better repeatability, and superior long-term stability for lower-temperature applications where precision is critical.
