Description
The Aavad Pencil Type RTD Sensor is a compact resistance temperature detector (RTD) designed for applications where installation space is limited and accurate temperature measurement is essential. Its slim, uniform probe profile allows the sensor to fit into narrow thermowells, small-diameter bores, compact machinery, and restricted process connections where conventional RTD assemblies may not fit.
Model APES-6×300 is manufactured with a 6 mm SS316 stainless steel sheath, a spring-loaded construction, and is available with PT100 or PT1000 sensing elements in 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire configurations. The sensor provides Class A accuracy in accordance with IEC 60751 and operates over a temperature range of -50°C to 400°C, making it suitable for precise industrial temperature monitoring across a wide variety of process applications.
The spring-loaded probe helps maintain consistent contact with the measurement surface or thermowell base, improving response stability and measurement repeatability in applications subject to vibration or thermal expansion. The slim “pencil” profile minimizes installation constraints while providing reliable mechanical strength for everyday industrial use.
This model is supplied with a 3-meter white PTFE (Teflon) insulated cable, offering excellent resistance to heat, moisture, oils, and many industrial chemicals. While cable color and length assist with product identification and installation requirements, the primary engineering advantage of this sensor is its compact probe design, which enables temperature measurement in locations that are difficult to access with standard RTD assemblies.

FAQs
1. What is a Pencil Type RTD Sensor?
A Pencil Type RTD Sensor is a slim-profile Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) designed for precise temperature measurement in narrow bores, compact machinery, small process connections, and confined industrial installations where standard RTD assemblies may not fit. It provides highly accurate and stable temperature measurement for a wide range of industrial applications.
2. Why is a Pencil-Profile RTD used?
The slim, uniform probe design enables easy installation in restricted spaces such as narrow thermowells, compact equipment, laboratory instruments, OEM machinery, molds, dies, and other applications with limited installation space. Despite its compact size, it delivers the same reliable temperature measurement expected from industrial RTD sensors.
3. What is the difference between a Pencil Type RTD and a Standard RTD?
A Pencil Type RTD features a slim, uniform-diameter probe specifically designed for confined installations and miniature process connections. A Standard RTD typically has a larger probe diameter, threaded process connection, or terminal head assembly intended for general industrial process applications. The choice depends on available installation space and application requirements.
4. Is this Sensor available with PT100 and PT1000 elements?
Yes. This sensor can be supplied with either PT100 or PT1000 sensing elements in accordance with IEC 60751. The appropriate element is selected based on the required measurement accuracy, cable length, controller compatibility, and overall system design.
5. Which Wire Configurations are available?
The Pencil Type RTD Sensor is available in 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire configurations. A 2-wire RTD is suitable for shorter cable runs, while 3-wire and 4-wire configurations provide improved compensation for lead wire resistance, making them ideal for high-accuracy industrial temperature measurement systems.
6. Which industries commonly use Pencil Type RTD Sensors?
Pencil Type RTD Sensors are widely used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, food & beverage processing, laboratory equipment, plastic processing machinery, packaging machines, semiconductor equipment, OEM machinery, HVAC systems, industrial automation, textile machinery, and general process industries where compact and accurate temperature sensing is required.
