    Description

The Aavad Instrument Model ARFS Regenerator Crown Thermocouple is specifically designed for these demanding glass furnace applications. It uses a Type R (Pt13%Rh/Pt) platinum-rhodium sensing element capable of accurate temperature measurement up to 1600°C, delivering excellent long-term stability for continuous furnace operation.

Modern glass melting furnaces rely on regenerators, refiners, and furnace crown sections to maintain efficient heat recovery, stable melting conditions, and consistent glass quality. These areas operate under extreme temperatures while being exposed to glass vapours, volatile silica compounds, and aggressive furnace atmospheres that can shorten the service life of conventional temperature sensors. Reliable temperature measurement in these zones is essential for optimizing energy efficiency, protecting refractory materials, and maintaining continuous furnace performance.

Unlike standard single-protection thermocouples, this model incorporates a double Ker-710 high-purity alumina ceramic protection system. The inner and outer ceramic tubes provide enhanced resistance to contamination from silica vapours, thermal shock, and mechanical damage, making the assembly particularly suitable for regenerator and refiner zones where ceramic protection is subjected to harsher operating conditions. The ceramic assembly is securely bonded to an SS310 holding tube using a high-temperature alumina bonding compound, ensuring mechanical integrity during prolonged high-temperature service.

The thermocouple is completed with a weatherproof die-cast aluminium terminal head with IP67 protection, safeguarding electrical connections against dust and moisture in industrial environments. By providing stable and reliable temperature data, the sensor supports improved combustion control, efficient heat recovery, optimized glass quality, and extended refractory campaign life.
