Description
Industrial processes operating above 1200°C require temperature sensors capable of maintaining accuracy and stability under continuous exposure to extreme heat. While base-metal thermocouples such as K, J, N, and T Type are widely used in medium- and high-temperature applications, they gradually lose stability as temperatures increase. For these demanding environments, noble metal thermocouples are the preferred solution.
A noble metal thermocouple uses conductors made from platinum and platinum-rhodium alloys, materials chosen for their excellent oxidation resistance, long-term stability, and reliable thermoelectric performance at elevated temperatures. Depending on the application, these thermocouples are available in Type R, Type S, and Type B configurations, each offering specific advantages in terms of operating temperature, measurement sensitivity, and long-term performance.
The Aavad Instrument Model ARIS Noble Metal Thermocouple is a compact R Type ceramic tube thermocouple designed as a representative solution for this family of high-temperature sensors. It features a Platinum-13% Rhodium / Platinum sensing element, 500 mm high-purity ceramic protection tube, SS310 holding tube, weatherproof IP67 die-cast aluminium terminal head, and a 2-inch 300# RF flange for secure installation in industrial furnaces, kilns, reactors, and process equipment.
Because platinum alloys can be affected by contamination from silicon, phosphorus, sulphur compounds, and strongly reducing atmospheres, noble metal thermocouples are typically installed inside high-purity ceramic protection tubes. These ceramic barriers electrically insulate the conductors while shielding them from contaminants and mechanical damage, helping maintain measurement accuracy and extend service life.
Manufactured by Aavad Instrument Pvt. Ltd., noble metal thermocouples are available in Type R, Type S, and Type B, with customized insertion lengths, ceramic protection systems, holding tube materials, flange configurations, and process connections for industries including steel, glass, ceramics, petrochemicals, aerospace, and research laboratories.
