Description
A Drilled Bar Stock Thermowell is a one-piece protective temperature sensor assembly machined from a single solid metal bar or forged blank. Unlike fabricated thermowells that are manufactured by welding multiple components together, a drilled bar stock thermowell eliminates welded joints, providing superior mechanical strength, improved dimensional accuracy, and greater reliability in demanding industrial processes.
The Aavad Instrument Drilled Bar Stock Thermowell is precision-machined from SS310 stainless steel, a material selected for its excellent high-temperature oxidation and scaling resistance. The solid construction provides outstanding performance in applications involving elevated temperatures, high process pressures, and severe mechanical stresses commonly found in power generation, petrochemical processing, refineries, boilers, reactors, and heavy process industries.
Each thermowell is manufactured using high-precision machining techniques to maintain excellent concentricity between the internal bore and the external diameter, ensuring consistent wall thickness throughout the entire stem length. This dimensional accuracy is particularly important for thermowells evaluated in accordance with ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2016, where geometric consistency directly influences wake frequency calculations, vibration analysis, and mechanical integrity.
The large 300 mm flanged process connection, 240 mm pitch circle diameter (PCD), 85 mm outside diameter, 35.5 mm bore, and 550 mm insertion length make this thermowell suitable for installation on large process vessels, pressure pipelines, reactors, and heat exchangers requiring robust mechanical construction.
Designed to protect RTDs, Pt100 sensors, thermocouples, and other temperature instruments, the thermowell enables sensor replacement or maintenance without interrupting the process while extending sensor life in aggressive operating environments.
