Description
The K-Type Thermocouple Extension Wire is specifically designed to extend the millivolt signal from a K-Type thermocouple to temperature controllers, PLCs, DCS systems, indicators, recorders, and data acquisition equipment while maintaining reliable signal integrity. Unlike thermocouple-grade wire, which forms the actual sensing junction and is exposed directly to process temperatures, extension-grade wire is intended only for transmitting the thermocouple signal through the cable run. This allows the sensing element to measure temperatures up to 1250°C, while the extension wire operates safely within its 20°C to 90°C ambient temperature range without affecting measurement accuracy.
Manufactured using Chromel-Alumel extension-grade conductors, the wire provides dependable thermoelectric compatibility with K-Type thermocouples and complies with the requirements of industrial temperature measurement systems. It is available with PVC, FEP, PFA, or fiberglass insulation, enabling users to select the most appropriate construction based on the installation environment, mechanical protection requirements, chemical exposure, and ambient operating conditions. Optional stainless steel reinforcement further improves durability in demanding industrial applications where vibration and mechanical stress are common.

FAQs
1. What is a K-Type Thermocouple Extension Wire?
A K-Type Thermocouple Extension Wire is designed to carry the millivolt (mV) signal from a K-Type thermocouple sensor to a temperature controller, PLC, indicator, recorder, or monitoring instrument without significantly affecting measurement accuracy. It is used for accurate thermocouple signal transmission rather than temperature sensing.
2. What is the difference between Thermocouple-Grade Wire and Extension-Grade Wire?
Thermocouple-grade wire forms the actual sensing junction and is designed to withstand the full process temperature. In contrast, extension-grade wire is used only to transmit the thermocouple’s millivolt signal from the sensor to the measuring instrument and is intended to operate within a lower ambient temperature range.
3. Why choose Aavad Instrument’s K-Type Thermocouple Extension Wire?
Aavad Instrument’s K-Type Thermocouple Extension Wire is manufactured using high-quality extension-grade conductors and premium insulation materials to provide reliable signal transmission, long service life, and dependable performance in industrial temperature measurement and process control systems.
