Description
L-Shape Thermocouple is a specialized K-Type temperature sensor designed for molten metal furnaces where installation geometry prevents the use of conventional straight thermocouples. Instead of solving a temperature limitation, its distinctive right-angle construction solves an access problem by allowing accurate temperature measurement through side-entry or offset furnace openings.
The thermocouple features a 500 mm SS310 cold arm that remains outside the furnace, carrying the electrical signal safely to the connection point, while the 600 mm silicon-nitride-bonded hot arm is engineered to withstand continuous immersion in molten aluminium, brass, and zinc at temperatures up to 1100°C. This design enables reliable measurement in furnace layouts where a straight vertical probe cannot be positioned correctly.
Inside the hot arm, an 8 mm Inconel 600 mineral insulated (MI) K-Type sensing insert provides fast thermal response, excellent resistance to oxidation, and dependable long-term measurement under severe thermal conditions. The combination of Inconel 600, silicon nitride protection, and right-angle geometry ensures accurate monitoring while protecting the sensing element from thermal shock and mechanical stress.
The AKWS-L 500 is widely used in foundries, non-ferrous metal melting, salt bath furnaces, and heat treatment operations where compact furnace layouts or side-wall access make conventional immersion thermocouples impractical.
