Description
A Casting Thermowell is a protective fitting designed to house RTDs, Pt100 sensors, thermocouples, and other industrial temperature sensors, shielding them from direct exposure to process pressure, flowing media, corrosion, and mechanical damage. By isolating the sensing element from the process, a thermowell helps extend sensor life while allowing maintenance or replacement without disturbing the installed process connection.
The Aavad Instrument Casting Thermowell (Model TW-CI-315) is manufactured from Cast Iron (CI) and is designed as a dependable, cost-effective solution for general industrial temperature measurement applications. It features a 40 mm outside diameter, 18 mm internal bore, 315 mm overall length, and a ¾” BSP(M) threaded process connection, making it suitable for installation in pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels, and utility process equipment.
The cast construction provides a robust body suitable for many standard industrial services where operating conditions are moderate and an economical thermowell is required. The threaded BSP connection allows quick installation and straightforward maintenance while providing a secure mechanical connection in a wide variety of industrial piping systems.
This thermowell is compatible with RTDs, Pt100 sensors, Pt1000 sensors, and thermocouples, making it suitable for continuous temperature monitoring in manufacturing plants, utilities, water treatment systems, steam distribution, chemical processing, and general process industries.
For applications involving very high process pressure, high fluid velocity, severe vibration, or engineering evaluations based on ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2016, a machined Bar Stock Thermowell is generally the preferred option because of its higher mechanical strength and more uniform material characteristics. However, for routine industrial temperature measurement where those conditions are not present, a casting thermowell offers an economical and reliable solution.
