Description
Molten Metal Thermocouple is a specially engineered L-Shape (Right-Angle) K-Type Thermocouple designed for accurate temperature measurement in molten metal, foundry, casting, and heat treatment applications. Its unique right-angle construction enables temperature monitoring in furnaces where straight thermocouples cannot be inserted due to restricted openings, angled access points, or challenging installation geometries.
The thermocouple combines a 500 mm SS310 cold arm with a 600 mm silicon-nitride-bonded hot arm, allowing the sensing tip to safely reach molten metal while keeping the terminal section outside high-temperature furnace zones. This configuration provides easier installation, improved operator safety, and accurate positioning during continuous process monitoring.
Unlike conventional stainless steel protection tubes that rapidly deteriorate in molten metal, the silicon nitride hot arm offers exceptional resistance to thermal shock, oxidation, abrasion, and chemical attack from molten aluminium, brass, zinc, and similar non-ferrous metals. Inside the protection tube, an 8 mm Inconel 600 mineral-insulated (MI) K-Type sensing insert delivers fast, stable, and highly accurate temperature measurement up to 1200°C.
Designed for continuous industrial service, the AKWS-L 500 is widely used in foundries, die casting plants, metal melting furnaces, salt bath furnaces, alloy production facilities, and heat treatment operations. Its rugged construction ensures long service life, reduced maintenance, and dependable performance even in the harshest molten metal environments.
