Description
A head type thermocouple sensor is a temperature sensor in which the sensing element terminates inside a protective terminal head rather than extending as exposed lead wires. The terminal head houses the connection block, cable entry, and electrical terminals, providing mechanical protection and simplifying installation in industrial environments. This construction is widely used across manufacturing, process industries, utilities, and automation systems because it offers durability, ease of maintenance, and reliable electrical connections.
The Aavad Instrument Model AKWS Head Type Thermocouple Sensor is a simplex K-Type temperature sensor designed as a robust, general-purpose solution for industrial temperature measurement. Featuring a 6 mm SS316 stainless steel sheath, a 2400 mm insertion length, and a standard die-cast aluminium terminal head with IP65 protection, it represents the classic head-type thermocouple configuration used in a broad range of industrial applications.
Unlike wire-type thermocouples, which expose lead wires directly from the sensing junction, or ceramic-tube thermocouples, which are intended for extremely high-temperature furnace applications, a head type thermocouple balances durability, installation convenience, and cost. The enclosed terminal head protects electrical connections from dust, moisture, and routine industrial exposure while allowing easy access for maintenance and replacement.
Operating from 0°C to 650°C, the AKWS uses an SS316 sheath that offers good corrosion resistance and dependable performance in many industrial environments. Although supplied as a K-Type thermocouple, the same head-type architecture can be configured with other thermocouple calibrations such as J, N, or T Type to suit different process requirements.
