Description
Duplex Thermocouple Sensor is a high-performance dual-element K-Type temperature sensor designed for continuous industrial processes where uninterrupted temperature monitoring is essential. Featuring two independent thermocouple sensing junctions housed within a single SS316 stainless steel sheath, this sensor provides operational redundancy, helping reduce unexpected downtime and improve maintenance planning in critical industrial applications.
Unlike simplex thermocouples, a Duplex Thermocouple Sensor allows operators to switch from the primary sensing element to the secondary element if one junction reaches the end of its service life. This enables continued process operation while a replacement sensor is scheduled, minimizing production interruptions and maintenance costs.
The AKFD is constructed with a 6 mm SS316 stainless steel sheath that provides excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical durability in demanding industrial environments. With a 2200 mm insertion length, it is ideally suited for medium- to long-reach applications in furnaces, boilers, reactors, and industrial process equipment.
For hazardous installations, the thermocouple is fitted with a rugged flameproof die-cast aluminium terminal head featuring IP67 protection, ensuring safe operation in environments where explosive gases or dust may be present. The double cable entry simplifies independent wiring for each sensing element and supports reliable integration into industrial control systems.

FAQs
1. What is a Duplex Thermocouple Sensor?
A Duplex Thermocouple Sensor is an industrial temperature sensor containing two independent sensing elements housed inside a single protective sheath. This dual-element design provides redundant temperature measurement, allowing one sensing element to continue operating if the other fails, thereby improving process reliability and reducing unplanned downtime.
2. Why choose a Duplex Thermocouple instead of a Simplex Thermocouple?
A Duplex Thermocouple minimizes process interruptions by incorporating a spare sensing element within the same sensor assembly. When the primary junction reaches the end of its service life, operators can switch to the secondary junction without immediately replacing the thermocouple, reducing maintenance costs, production downtime, and equipment shutdowns.
3. Where are Duplex Thermocouple Sensors used?
Duplex Thermocouple Sensors are widely used in power plants, petrochemical facilities, industrial furnaces, boilers, heat treatment systems, chemical processing plants, refineries, continuous manufacturing lines, steel industries, cement plants, and hazardous industrial environments where continuous process reliability and accurate temperature monitoring are essential.
